Before officially became a member of the CIA, Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) has vowed to always be faithful to duty, honor and country and an oath is then become a statement when all of a sudden there is a person who claims that Evelyn is actually a Russian agent with a mission to destroy America. Trapped by a conspiracy, there is no choice but to fend for them for Evelyn to clear her good name.
Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski) who is interrogated say that there is indeed mission called Day X. The mission aims to kill the Russian president who is visiting the United States and who shall serve as the killer is Evelyn Salt. The result of brain wave analysis states that Orlov is honest, which means Salt is a double agent. When she realized that she is in a danger, Salt then flees. At the same time, Orlov also managed to escape from the CIA and further strengthens the case that Salt is involved.
The next day, Salt managed to enter the church used to pay their last respects to the late vice-president of the United States. At the same time Russian President also attended the event.
